Farming Is Not Just One Season at Deer Park Farm
When most people think about farming, they picture a single season. Maybe it is spring planting, summer harvest, or rows of vegetables coming out of the field under the warm sun. But at Deer Park Farm, growing is not just something that happens for a few months out of the year. It is a year-round commitment.
Behind every jar, bottle, and product we create is a full cycle of planning, planting, growing, harvesting, preserving, and preparing for what comes next.
At the heart of that work is Shiloh and his growing team. Their days shift with the seasons, but the work never really stops. In the fields, greenhouses, and high tunnels, they are constantly tending to the land, caring for plants, managing harvests, and making sure we are growing with intention.
Our fields allow us to grow in the open air, following the natural rhythm of the season. Our greenhouses help us get a strong start on plants before they ever reach the ground. Our high tunnels extend the growing season, protect crops from harsh weather, and allow us to keep producing even when the weather outside has other plans.
That means farming at Deer Park Farm is not just about one big harvest. It is about layers of work happening all year long.
Seeds are started. Soil is cared for. Plants are moved, watered, pruned, and protected. Crops are harvested at just the right time. Then, much of that harvest makes its way into the kitchen, where the fruits of that labor become the products our customers know and love.
From salsas and hot sauces to krauts, pickles, fermented mustard, cowboy candy, jams, sauces, and more, our products are rooted in real farming. They begin with ingredients grown by hardworking hands and cared for from the very start.
And while we are proud of what we grow right here at Deer Park Farm, we also believe in supporting the local food community around us. That is why we source from other local farms when needed. It allows us to keep creating high-quality products while also strengthening the network of growers, makers, and producers who help keep local food alive and thriving.
Every product on our shelves has a story. Some start in our fields. Some begin in our greenhouses or high tunnels. Some are made possible through partnerships with other local farms. But all of them are connected by the same purpose: to create good food with care, hard work, and respect for where it comes from.
At Deer Park Farm, farming is not just a season. It is a way of life. It is early mornings, long days, changing weather, muddy boots, full harvest baskets, and a team that shows up again and again to make it all happen.
So the next time you open a jar, pour a sauce, or take home one of our farm-made products, know that you are tasting more than a recipe. You are tasting the work of the whole year.
