Plenty! — Nourishing Floyd County One Neighbor at a Time
Floyd County has always been a place where people show up for each other — with food, with time, with kindness, and with a whole lot of heart. This Giving Tuesday, we want to shine a light on an organization that embodies all of that: Plenty!, Floyd’s local food pantry and one of the most vital community resources in our region.

Rooted in Community Tradition
Plenty! began back in 2008 with one simple moment. Karen Day, one of the founders, realized the local pantry couldn’t accept fresh beet greens she’d gleaned while volunteering on a farm. Rather than letting good food go to waste, she and co-founder McCabe Coolidge went looking for someone who would use it.
From that spark came Portable Produce, then the Plenty! Fresh Pantry, and eventually the fully realized nonprofit Plenty! is today. Their mission has stayed steady through it all:
Plenty! nourishes community and preserves Floyd County traditions by encouraging neighbors to grow and share food while sparking bigger conversations about sustainable food practices.
Growing Food, Growing Community
In 2014, Plenty! expanded its vision by creating the Plenty! Farm — 17 beautiful acres along the Little River. Using organic practices like crop rotation and cover cropping, the farm provides clean, fresh, healthy food all year long.
This isn’t just agriculture. It’s stewardship. It’s food grown with intention and given with care.
Their Impact Reaches Every Corner of Floyd County
The need in Floyd is real, and Plenty! meets it head-on. Just look at the lives they touch:
215+ food pantry visits and home deliveries each week
11.2% of Floyd County residents experience food insecurity
3,781 individuals served at least once in 2024
3,035 pounds of food distributed weekly
60 volunteers showing up every week
3,781 home deliveries made this year

From families to seniors to neighbors who just need a hand for a little while, Plenty! is there. And they’ve been there from the beginning — first as a volunteer-led effort, and now as a full nonprofit with staff supported by more than 50 volunteers each week.
Why We’re Sharing Their Story Today
At Deer Park Farm, we’ve had the privilege of partnering with Plenty! many times over the years. Every single time, we walk away reminded of why this organization is so important. They are steady. They are compassionate. And they make an impact that ripples far beyond the pantry doors.
So for Giving Tuesday, we wanted our spotlight to go to Plenty! — because Floyd County depends on them, and they deserve all the support we can give.
If you’re looking for a meaningful place to give today, we can’t recommend them enough.
